- Load board
- A load board is a marketplace where brokers and shippers post available freight for carriers to find and book.
The same freight is not posted everywhere and coverage varies by region and equipment, which is why a carrier may end up subscribing to more than one board.
The same load is frequently posted on several boards at once, which makes searching them separately repetitive and easy to double-count.
The number that matters is not the posted rate but the rate after deadhead to the pickup, which is why proximity to your free trucks decides whether a load is actually good.
Boards differ in what they cost and who posts to them, which is why carriers commonly subscribe to more than one and end up searching each in its own window.
A posted rate is an asking price. What it is worth to a particular truck depends on the empty miles to the pickup and where it leaves the truck afterwards.
